A man was arrested in Hyde Park on Wednesday morning after a shooting that left one victim dead and another with critical injuries, Boston Police announced.
At about 10 a.m. Wednesday, Boston Police responded to a radio call reporting shots fired on Faraday Street in Hyde Park, the department said.
Two victims, one male and one female, were found at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, BPD said. Both were taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries, and the woman died at the facility.
Responding officers arrested Jonathan Hernandez, 41, of Hyde Park, at the scene, Boston Police said. Hernandez was charged with murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and assault with intent to murder.
Boston Police shut down Faraday Street, which is situated feet away from the border of Hyde Park and Milton, through about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers remained at a taped off residence along the street after it was reopened.

A green car could be seen stopped perpendicular in the middle of Faraday Street near the crime scene throughout the morning, with shattered glass scattered across the ground.
Marcia, a resident who lives across from the site of the shooting, said it’s “not normal to walk out of your house and not feel safe.” She was out for a walk when she started to get texts asking about helicopters overhead and reports of a shooting, Marcia said.
The resident said she returned to find police swarming her street and her house blocked off.
“This is traumatic for our community,” said Marcia, standing along the edge of the police tape blocking off her street Wednesday. “This is West Fairmont Hill, and for the 10 years I’ve lived here, this has been an evolving community, and it’s had its share of issues. But I’m just shocked that this is happening and saddened.”
Marcia said her goal immediately is to gather community members and have a conversation about how to support each other and “heal together.”
“For the grieving family, our prayers go out,” said Carolyn, another neighbor in the area. “And we just ask for a better community, and for everyone to come out. We invite you just come out and know your neighbors, and for us to work together.”
Boston Police said the incident remains under investigation and urged anyone with information to reach out to the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470 or the anonymous CrimeStoppers line.
Police also noted the Boston Neighborhood Trauma Team is also available 24/7 for free confidential emotional support at 617-431-0125.
Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
