Influencer Melissa Winkler is in awe of her dainty engagement ring, which fans have since likened to Belly Conklin’s own bauble from The Summer I Turned Pretty.
“I said YES! 💍 Forever sounds like paradise with you!🤍,” Winkler wrote via Instagram on September 14, sharing a photo from her today-fiancé’s proposal.
Winkler’s beau popped the question in Dubai with a delicate Tiffany’s gold ring that featured a small diamond.
“Lovvvvve this ring,” Chrissy Teigen wrote in the comments section.
“Bama Rush” TikToker Kylan Darnell’s mom, Tanya Darnell, was also a fan of Winkler’s rock.
“DOES NO ONE SEE THE RING IS TIFFANY?!!!!!! Like What?!!!!” Tanya wrote. “Congratulations beautiful!!!!! Your ring is stunning!”
A handful of social media followers, meanwhile, thought Winkler’s ring looked nearly identical to the ring that Belly (Lola Tung) received from Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) during the third season of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty.
“Isabel Conklin, who are you?” one Instagram user replied, while another simply shared a GIF of the fictional character.
A third fan added, “Jeremiah Fisher, somebody stole your ring.”
Winkler, for her part, isn’t letting the criticism cloud her happy moment.
“Didn’t expect to go viral over my engagement 💍😂,” she wrote via Instagram on Sunday, September 21. “All I know is I’m happy, I’m grateful & I said YES!!”
Winkler shared another image of herself flashing her dainty ring, adding the text, “POV: You just wanted to share your engagement … but the internet had other plans.”
As for Belly, fans recently roasted Jeremiah for popping the question — after cheating on his then-girlfriend — with a minuscule ring. Tung, 22, has since defended the small jewelry piece.

“I think it’s a little much,” Tung said in a YouTube interview with Pedestrian TV in July. “It’s very funny, but I love that ring, though. I do, but I think it’s so them. You know, they’re young and Jeremiah’s already put his father in debt. I also think it’s beautiful! It’s little, but it’s practical.”
Belly ultimately called off her wedding to Jeremiah and moved to Paris, where she later reunited with her ex (and Jeremiah’s older brother) Conrad Fisher, played by Christopher Briney. While Belly and Conrad ended up together by the finale, it remains to be seen where their journey heads from there. Showrunner Jenny Han, who also wrote the Summer I Turned Pretty books, is currently writing a feature-length film to wrap the trilogy.
