With thousands of property owners rushing to meet the deadline of November 7 to submit their Local Property Tax returns, Revenue has set a new date, acknowledging ‘uncertainty’ some people face
Revenue has confirmed that they will be extending the deadline for those who have yet to submit their Local Property Tax valuation returns.
Revenue is extending the filing deadline to 17:30 on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, despite saying they received strong engagement from Ireland’s property owners who submitted their valuations before the previous deadline of November 7th.
Speaking to RTE‘s Drivetime, a spokesperson for Revenue said that they do not expect that the deadline will be extended again.
According to figures released today, Revenue has received LPT Returns from approximately 1.4 million properties.
42,202 of those returns were filed on Friday November 7 as at 2pm, with a further 78,418 returns filed yesterday.
“This represents approximately 140,000 more returns filed than at the same stage in the 2022 revaluation cycle, clear evidence that there is strong momentum,” Revenue shared.
In a statement released on Friday evening, Revenue said: “Revenue understands that the LPT revaluation and filing process can cause uncertainty for some property owners, especially as this is the first revaluation since 2021. The extended deadline aims to provide additional time to meet obligations.”
“Property owners are reminded that LPT is a self-assessed tax, and it is important to carefully determine the current market benefit of their property as of 1 November 2025 before submitting their return.”
“Revenue’s LPT Helpline (01 738 3626) continues to experience high demand, handling around 7,000 calls every day. Our teams are working incredibly hard to answer queries, but from on-going monitoring of the helpline we can see that about 4,000 callers have not got through this morning.”

“In addition, we have received over 100,000 pieces of correspondence including MyEnquiries, postal queries, and paper returns which are actively being worked through.”
“Revenue reassures property owners these will be treated as compliant, provided returns are filed promptly once queries are resolved.”
“To support property owners, Revenue’s LPT Helpline will operate extended opening hours in the lead-up to the new deadline.”
As outlined on the website, people can immediately call the LPT Helpline from 09:00-20:00 on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 November, while on the day of the deadline, Wednesday 12, they can contact theHelpline from 09:00-16:30.
