The Denver Broncos handed the Kansas City Chiefs their fifth loss of the season on Sunday, November 16, and Broncos cornerback Jahdae Barron took a swipe at Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce after the game by referencing his fiancée, Taylor Swift.
Taking to Instagram, Barron, 23, posted a picture of himself hitting Kelce, 36, on Wednesday, November 19. He then shared the photo to his Story, writing, “Tell swift put me on a song…RIGHT today” underneath.
Barron later deleted the post, which would have expired on Thursday, according to Bleacher Report.
Predictably, the post drew the ire of Swift’s fandom, with Swifties sharing screenshots of the post via X for all to see.
“If he’s not afraid of the Swifties he should be. Good luck to him,” one user wrote.
Another added, “She already did bro !!!! THE SMALLEST MAN THAT’S EVER LIVED,” referencing the track of the same name from her 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Though Barron didn’t reference the blowback directly, he added a post to his Instagram Story later on Thursday, writing, “Y’all trolling on my phone. I’m trying to be a creator I just want some help.”
Despite the Broncos’ win, Kelce still had a strong game. He led the Chiefs with nine receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown. That TD made him the Chiefs’ all-time leading career touchdown scorer.
Reflecting on the moment later, Kelce admitted that the milestone wasn’t quite as sweet because Kansas City didn’t win the game.
“It’s an honor, man,” he told his brother, Jason Kelce, on the Wednesday, November 19, episode of the pair’s “New Heights” podcast. “Obviously, right today it’s soured because it’s coming off a f***ing loss. Our fifth loss of the season. But I got, first of all, so much respect for the organization, so much respect for the guys that have paved the way, not only in the Chiefs organization but in the National Football League, that have made an opportunity for myself to come in and make a living.”
He added that he still loves coming to work every day more than a decade into his pro career.
“When you come into work with the right mindset and right attitude, and you got a really good coach and a really good quarterback, and you stay long enough, they don’t fire you for 13 years, you start to pile up some stats,” he said.
Off the field, Kelce has been just as busy, preparing for his wedding to Swift, 35. The two began dating in 2023 and got engaged in August.
“They are both [very] involved, and Taylor thinks it’s cute that Travis wants to help,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly last month. “They don’t want a long engagement [and] very much want to start a family in the next year or so. Family means everything to them.”
“Taylor and Travis are super simple,” a second source said. “People expect glam when they visit them, but it’s the complete opposite. Sometimes they’re in sweats, eating takeout. It’s not what you’d expect.”
