Jasmin Savoy Brown starred in two Scream movies alongside Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega and immediately she’s opening up about making the next installment without them.
The 31-year-old plays the role of Mindy Meeks-Martin in the horror movie franchise and she’s among the actors returning for Scream 7 in 2026.
Jasmin chatted with author Ashley Collins for the book “Your Favorite Scary Movie: How the Scream Films Rewrote the Rules of Horror,” which was just released.
In the book, Jasmin discussed the controversy that led to Melissa and Jenna‘s exits from the franchise.

For those who don’t remember, Melissa was fired from the movies after she posted about the Israel-Hamas war and people considered her posts to be antisemitic. Jenna allegedly left because of scheduling issues.
“It’s been really sad and stressful,” Jasmin said in her interview for the book (via New York Post).
She added, “Often, actors are expected to know as much about politics as politicians. And, in today’s day and age, when everything is online, everyone thinks they’re an expert in everything, which isn’t the case. I also think there is a clear difference between talking politics and standing up for people who don’t have a voice. It’s not politics, it’s human life.”
Jasmin has hope that Melissa and Jenna will eventually return.
“I can’t imagine making this movie without Melissa and Jenna,” she said. “It won’t be the same. On the flip side, I do care about this character so much, and I care so much about the people that care about her. I hope that someday — even if it’s 20 years from immediately — the Core Four gets back together on screen.”
