Jusuf Nurkic pulled down an offensive rebound and scored a bucket in the paint with 0.6 seconds left to lift the Jazz to a 105-103 victory against the Boston Celtics.
It was a fitting end.
After all, Utah bodied Boston in the paint during the final three quarters. The Celtics, who held a 14-9 edge in rebounds after the first quarter and allowed a mere one offensive rebound in the opening 12 minutes, ended up losing the rebounding battle 55-36. The C’s allowed 14 offensive boards during the final three quarters.
The discrepancy inside overshadowed Jaylen Brown’s impressive second half and a 14-3 fourth-quarter run for the hosts. Brown scored 27 of his game-high 36 points after the intermission. It was nearly half of Boston’s output as the C’s were outscored 69-57 over the final 24 minutes.
The Jazz erased Boston’s 10-point halftime lead after shooting 72 percent (13-for-18) in the third quarter, including 43 percent from long range (3-for-7).
On the other hand, the Celtics shot an abysmal 21.6 percent from long range (11-for-51).
