“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant,” the streamer shared in a statement, via Variety. “We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.”
The Savant “follows an undercover investigator known as ‘The Savant’ (Chastain) as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act.”
The series is based on a 2019 Cosmopolitan story by Andrea Stanley, and centers on Jessica as “Jodi Goodwin, a military veteran who works at the Anti-Hate Alliance. There, she secretly visits 4Chan-like message boards and tries to draw out possible terrorists. Early in the series, while posing as a white nationalist, she stumbles upon the planning of a large-scale domestic attack, and attempts to infiltrate the group to thwart it.”
Apple TV+ was set to premiere the upcoming series THIS Friday (September 26) with the first two episodes. A new date has not been set at the time of this post.
The Savant‘s delay comes a week after Jimmy Kimmel Live! was pulled off the air indefinitely over the host’s comments on the assassin of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. The late night talk show is returning on Tuesday (September 23).
