It’s an exciting day for Patriots Nation on Saturday with Julian Edelman and Bill Parcells being inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
Parcells was head coach from 1993 to 1996. He’s a controversial figure among Patriots fans, with him leaving to coach rival New York Jets in 1997. But he certainly left his mark on New England, turning around a dismal record from 1990 to 1992 and leading them to the playoffs in 1994 and 1996.
Parcells was a finalist for the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2020, and 2023.
Edelman played wide receiver from 2009 through 2020. The three-time Super Bowl champion is known for his tough postseason performances. He was also named Super Bowl LIII MVP. He played his entire NFL career with the team and retired in April 2021.
In an interview with NBC Sports Boston earlier this week, Edelman reflected on the accomplishment.
“This is an unbelievably surreal moment for me,” he said.
“Being drafted here and playing my whole career here, being surrounded by the people that the best expampesl to be around if you wanted to stick around the Tom bradys, the Kevin Faulks early, the Tedy Bruschis early, the Matthew Slaters, the Devin McCourty, those guys challenged me in ways and made me put myself in a mindset to be the guy not to want to disappoint anyone, that I think it was a blessing for me to come here.”
The induction ceremony kicks off at 4 p.m. at Gillette Stadium and is free to the public.
