Bigger Budget
The first Kantara was made on just ₹16 crore, but this time the makers have gone all out with a massive ₹125 crore budget.
Shot for IMAX
Some big action and scenic sequences have been specially filmed for IMAX and PXL formats, promising a grander theatre experience.
More Languages
While the first film released in 5 languages, this prequel will release in 8 – including Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, English, and even Spanish.
OTT Rights
retailer Prime has reportedly bought the digital rights for a whopping ₹125 crore. The streaming release date will be announced later.
Massive Production
A giant 200×200 feet set was built in Kundapura (Udupi). Hollywood stunt director Todor Lazarov worked on the film, and Rishab Shetty himself performed stunts without a body double.
Story Setting
The film goes back in time to the Kadamba period of Karnataka, a golden era known for its rich culture, architecture, and beauty.
New Cast Additions
Gulshan Devaiah plays King Kulashekara, while Rukmini Vasanth is the female lead, Kanakavathi. Big names like Mohanlal and Jayaram are also said to be part of the cast.
The Naga Sadhu Angle
This chapter revolves around Rishab’s character as a Naga Sadhu with superhuman powers, adding a mystical layer to the story.
