Mariah Carey has taken it upon herself to inaugurate a Christmas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. The superstar-issued tickets went on sale until Saturday, September 20, at 10:00 a.m. PT to bring the Christmas show to Vegas Strip.

The image in question upheld Carey as the ultimate Christmas diva-max, somehow evoking femme chocolates-all that with an outfit that could only have been candy cane-inspired. Another fan aptly crystallized what many felt by saying, “This photo though oh my God it’s giving delectable diva candy cane” followed by heart-eye emojis. That image must be seen to set the backdrop for another extreme Mariah Christmas experience.
Responses followed, some international fans wondering about extension to a multitude of other locations. “Bring it to Europe, please. I have money to go this time!” pleaded a user from across the Atlantic while another was inquiring about dates from New York City specifically. Really, the Vegas announcement has apparently rekindled hopes for shows in other markets.
One of the many points discussed by fans was the timing for this Christmas show announcement. Several fans worried that having Carey’s new album Here For It All dropping on September 26 might cast a shadow over the new announcements. “What does this mean for ‘Here For It All’? I would hate for it to be overshadowed like ‘Caution’ was,” said one thoughtful fan, referring to how her previous album was overshadowed due to timing issues with her Christmas ventures in 2018.
A commentator seemed to voice the same sentiment quite bluntly: “Shouldn’t this be announced after the album is fully rolled out?” Clearly, weighing heavily on minds is the balancing act of being the Queen of Christmas and a relevant contemporary musician at the same time.
Despite the doubts, however, they were mainly drowned out by excitement. A number of users proclaimed to be “here for it all,” making a probable double entendre of the album’s title and anything Carey may produce from here on out. The tagline has become somewhat of a rallying call in the comment section.
Soon enough, the panic began to set in with one user shouting, “HOPING i don’t loose this Ticketmaster war! I WILL GET TICKETS!! 😭,” which will surely resonate with anyone who has ever tried to purchase tickets to a major event on that notoriously maddening site.
The international crowd showed their clout as well, with one member from the Philippines wittily offering: “Would she be performing ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ in October here, considering that we started the Christmas season in September?!” This question perhaps shed some light on the commercialism of Carey’s hits for Christmas around the world in contrast to the variation from country to country in how they celebrate.
The announcement drew hilarious reactions, including one user saying: “mulher, calma, pelo amor de deus” (woman, calm down, for God’s love) – perhaps they were overwhelmed by the relentless wave of Carey announcements.
With Christmas nearing, Mariah continues cementing her grasp as queen of all holiday entertainment. The Vegas show announcement provides yet another chapter furthering Mariah’s growing love affair with the city that never sleeps and a good time that never seems to end for the iconic diva. The blending of new beat with Christmas classics is one sure way they keep Carey relevant as a pop star and summer celebrations in the coming months.
