A Massachusetts dentist is accused of secretly recording people with a hidden DSLR in a staff restroom at New England Dental Group in Marlborough.
The Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday that 35-year-old Dr. Patrick Tu Huynh of Marlborough is facing seven counts of photographing a person in a state of nudity without consent, two counts of unlawful wiretap and a charge of destruction of property.
Prosecutors said a dental assistant first approached Huynh to report finding a DSLR taped to the toilet in May. He allegedly removed the DSLR and said he would try to identify the person responsible.
Then on Thursday, about three months after the first incident, the dental assistant contacted Marlborough police, reporting “an identical DSLR, located inside the same toilet, attached with dental wax and medical tape,” prosecutors said.
Investigators found audio and video recordings of people using the bathroom, as well as images allegedly showing Huynh trying to adjust the DSLR and clean the lens.
At an arraignment Wednesday, Huynh was ordered held on $10,000 bail with conditions that he stay away from the dental practice and have no contact with victims in the case. He was also required to surrender his passport.
A staff page with Hyunh’s name on New England Dental Group’s website was no longer available as of Wednesday.
Huynh is due back in court Sept. 25, prosecutors said. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
