Meghan Markle paid tribute to those affected by the California fires of early 2025 in With Love, Meghan.
The second season of the Netflix show, which premiered on Tuesday, Aug. 26, included a special tribute statement at the end of episode 7, which was shot in an area of Los Angeles County.
“This episode, filmed in the heart of Malibu, is dedicated to the first responders and all those affected by the devastating fires that swept through communities across California in early 2025. With love, to all our neighbors,” the statement said.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, grew up in the Los Angeles area and moved back to California in 2020 with Prince Harry after they stepped back as working members of the British royal family.

“Delaying the release of With Love, Meghan was likely an easy decision for her. I don’t think she could imagine putting out a show centered on joy and hosting when so many people in her home state no longer have homes to host people in,” an industry insider told PEOPLE at the time. “I think it’s sad that critics are saying she’s only doing this to avoid the fires overshadowing her show. We’re all human, and we’re dealing with a catastrophe.”
In January, she and Prince Harry, 40, also volunteered in Pasadena, California to support victims of the Eaton fire by distributing food and other supplies with World Central Kitchen.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also opened their Montecito home, located 90 miles north of the Los Angeles area, to friends who needed to evacuate.
