Megyn Kelly opened a window into one deeply personal matter, which all boils down to Kevin Hines reaching out to her during the worst hours of her career. During the course of the conversation, particularly with an account of the way such a small gesture of kindness from Hines manifested largely after her NBC firing and branding as a racist, it really showed the human connection in times of crisis.

Megyn Kelly will present one of the most raw and honest kindness stories of the year. It is all about when someone reaches out to you just at the right moment.
There was revealed to the television personality very recently to exist one incredible occurrence that she shared with Kevin Hines, a mental health advocate. Kelly said that Hines had come to her show years ago when it was still on NBC; he told the story of his survival of a suicide attempt from the Golden Gate Bridge. The policy of Hines was to give out his number to anyone in a dark moment, and it stuck with her.
She felt she should give him her number in case he ever needed her for support. But then everything changed. Kelly was fired by NBC. She was on every paper, being called a racist. Her career was in shambles. She was extremely depressed and despairing- she said that was as low as she had been as an adult.
Then Hines showed up. He, along with his wife Margie, were thinking about her, had her back, loved her, and did not believe what they were seeing. Kelly said it was probably one of the kindest things anybody has ever done for her. She said that small thing meant more than any other thing she’d ever been the recipient of, even more than big kind gestures and grandscale participations.
After the fact, Hines said he had no idea his reaching out had made such a difference. He’d seen everything that she was going through, and he deemed it unfair, so he had to do something. He said, since he is mixed race, part Black, that those accusations against her were just plain nonsense. “She’s an incredible beautiful human being,” he said of Kelly, “fighting the good fight.”
The comments erupted, coruscating with emotion. “The rawness and candor in this clip are amazing,” one commenter said, capturing their collective experience of being vulnerable. “This made me cry. This is so sweet,” responded another, meaning that the story deeply touched them.
More comments of the importance of such connections kept coming. “People show you who they are during the best of times and our darkest days,” one user observed, while another remarked, “There are no ‘small acts of kindness.’” Hence, these comments served to affirm that such moments reveal true character.
The story banger a chord for many in media professions. Another woman commenting said, “As a woman in media who lost everything and currently fighting for my career, it’s that one friend that checks on me that means more than any salary ever could.” The real-life application further solidified the connection Kelly’s story had forged with others who were experiencing similar circumstances.
The international viewers engaged in the positive exchange, with an Australian from Down Under saying, “Megyn is a rock star, listen every day here in Australia, we need more truth tellers like you here.” The disgust over basic human kindness speaks its global appeal.
