Jazz singer Michael Bublé has reflected on how he didn’t appreciate his success until he became a father.
In an interview with the Associated Press, the singer said he didn’t fully appreciate his success and career until he became a dad.
“It’s wild how I still feel like I’m 18 years old, but all of a sudden it’s … and it’s funny, because I never appreciated (my success) while it was happening, and I didn’t feel like I could afford to,” he said.

“I felt like there was no time to stop and smell the roses…I was way too ambitious.”
The reporter asked him when, if ever, he started appreciating his success, when Bublé revealed that it was only recently.
“I think (I appreciate it today), being a father… I think so much changes in your life.
“I’ve got a great wife who would remind me to try to live in the moment, there’s little moments.”
He said becoming a dad has helped him live in the moment and be satisfied with the good parts of life while they happen, rather than constantly searching for more.
“My son turned 12 the other day, that wasn’t just this awesome chance to celebrate this beautiful kid, and that I’m so lucky to know him.
“It was a chance to remember that that’s what’s important for me, because I get lost real quick.”
The jazz singer has previously spoken about his past “rave lifestyle” that included drinking and smoking, which he gave up after the birth of his son.
He said that it could have been disastrous for his career, as he suffered a vocal haemorrhage after quitting drinking and smoking marijuana.
“I stopped everything. No more booze and no more smoking and started going to the gym,” he told The Times in 2013.
“Six or seven months later, I was in the studio singing and I could tell something was not right, I went to the doctor and it turned out I had a vocal haemorrhage.”
Bublé became a father in 2013, welcoming his first son Noah, 12, with his wife, Luisana Lopilato, followed by three other children Elias, 9, Vida, 7, and Cielo, aged 3.
