Michelle Obama is sharing the piece of dating advice she gives her daughters.
The 61-year-old former First Lady spoke about her daughters, 27-year-old Malia Obama and 24-year-old Sasha Obama, on a recent episode of her podcast IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson.
Michelle shared the piece of advice that helped her know that husband Barack Obama was “the one” when they got married in 1992.

“I just try to get them to stay open to people,” Michelle said on the podcast episode. “The thing that I did do was date a lot. When Barack showed up, I had experiences to compare him against.”
Michelle went on to say that she and Barack regularly talk to their two daughters about their dating experiences and try to help them find stable, happy relationships like their own.
“We try to educate the girls by sharing our experiences. So my whole thing is date. Date a lot, and if you run into a bad date or have a bad experience, move on quickly. If it’s not working, next,” Michelle said on the podcast.
“We had a long lunch, a great conversation and we just vibed. I would probably say, if he were here, there was a hint of a spark that started at that lunch,” Michelle said of the early days of her relationship with the former President.
She said that before the two of them connected in person, she expected him to be a “nerdy guy” and that she was pleasantly surprised when she found him handsome and that they had a connection.
