In a bold and emotionally charged interview on the Outlaws podcast, Academy Award-winning actress and comedian Mo’Nique reignited her long-standing grievances with Tyler Perry, accusing the Hollywood mogul of having a “God complex” and demanding accountability for what she describes as career-damaging actions. During the conversation, Mo’Nique didn’t hold back. She alleged that Perry played a pivotal role in derailing her career more than a decade ago. According to her, a damaging “lie” told by Perry has cost her 12 years of professional opportunities, leading to significant financial and personal setbacks.
“Until he fixes it, I will not stop, because that’s how the monster is created,” she declared. Mo’Nique emphasized that her fight is not just about her own reputation but about ensuring no one else faces the same treatment. “We’re too afraid, too scared, too fearful that something will be taken from us if we speak out,” she said. “As long as I can help it, I’m saying, ‘Tyler Perry, you will not do this to another.’” Her words grew even sharper as she accused Perry of refusing to acknowledge or correct his alleged wrongdoing.
“You feel like you have the God complex, so I ain’t gotta fix it. Either you’ll fix it in life or you’ll be dealt with in death… but I’m not going anywhere until you take accountability and fix it,” Mo’Nique stated. The actress, who has been candid in the past about feeling blackballed in Hollywood, stressed the toll these events have taken on her livelihood and family. “Y’all messed with my livelihood, which messes with my family. So until they fix it, I’m not backing down.”
When asked what resolution she hopes for, Mo’Nique was clear that she wants a public apology. “You publicly shamed me, so immediately you have to fix it publicly,” she said firmly. She also pointed out the irony of Perry being known for his generosity, yet neglecting to repair the harm caused to her. “Tyler Perry, you cost my family millions, and millions, and millions of dollars.” For Mo’Nique, this is about justice, accountability, and reclaiming her voice in an industry she’s long fought to remain a part of.
