Country musician Spencer Hatcher has spoken out about his mother’s murder just six weeks after her death.
Hatcher, 28, took to Instagram on Tuesday, September 9, to address fans about the death of his mother, Holly Hatcher, in August.
“I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all the love and support that you all have shown me and my family over the last month,” he began in the video. “In what has really been the worst time of our life, you all sent so many loving comments and messages and made posts and everything. We did our best to read them, but I just want you all to know how appreciative we are and I am of you all.”
After noting that his mom was his “biggest fan” and “biggest supporter in everything” he did, Hatcher continued, “She loved the track. She loved everything about it. She loved the track, she loved the shows.”

“After a lot of thought and prayer and speaking to my label about continuing, you know, I 100 percent made the decision that I want to continue making track and bringing smiles to people’s faces and being out on the stage and everything,” Hatcher said.
Hatcher then shared that he has continued to move on because it’s what his mom would have wanted for him. “She would want me to keep on, and I know how much she loved it, and I know how much y’all love it,” he said.
“I’m not gonna quit. I’m gonna keep on going and go as hard as I possibly can like I always have. I want you all to come along on this journey with me as I get back into it,” he said. “I just appreciate you all and everything that you all have done for me and will continue to do for me.”
Prior to his mom’s death, Hatcher had a “pretty big schedule” lined up with tour dates, which he plans to follow through with. “My mom was real excited about all the opportunities and all the track. I hope that you all are just as excited about it as she was,” he said.
Hatcher concluded the video by thanking his fans for their support. “I hope that one day we can all be together where I can thank you in person. I love y’all, God bless,” he said.

Holly was fatally stabbed in her Harrisonburg, Virginia, home by an intruder on August 3. Suspect Kevin Moses Walker was then shot to death by Holly’s husband and Spencer’s father, Michael Hatcher, in the driveway.
Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson said the incident was “highly unusual” and “apparently completely random [attack] with an individual with no known history of violent behavior of any kind, or even criminal behavior of any kind,” according to local CBS station WTVR.
Hatcher initially canceled three shows following Holly’s death. However, he’s scheduled to perform in Houston, Dallas, Savannah, and other cities in the near future, according to his website.
