Learning of a couple’s engagement is always good news, but fans of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were over the moon when the pair announced plans to tie the knot.
The details were icing on the cake: the proposal went down in a romantic garden near Kansas City, where Kelce wowed with a huge antique cushion-cut diamond engagement ring designed with jeweler Kindred Lubeck.
And then there was the styling: Swift was decked out in a pinstripe Polo Ralph Lauren halter dress ($319 on ralphlauren.com — alas, it quickly sold out). Kelce was in Ralph, too — a classic short-sleeved, navy cable knit polo. Her accessories included a Cartier series, and a Tiffany & Co. ring with the initials “T.T.”
So what’s on your vision board for popping the question? Boston and its environs are a treasure trove of intimate spaces and sweeping views, dreamy restaurants and enchanting balconies. So here are five places to start the road to “I do.”
For: Booklovers
Where: 1928 Beacon Hill’s Library Room (1928beaconhill.com)
Why: With a ceiling lined with book pages, the back dining room— in an antiques-packed brownstone that was once a 1920s hotel — couldn’t be more intimate.
To wear: Swift’s Ralph Lauren dress may be sold out, but the
Primrose Dress by Rails ($201 on bloomingdales.com) is the next best thing.
To celebrate: Order up a plate of the Smoked Absinthe Oysters Rockefeller. So delicious and yet so Gatsby.
For: The Sports Fan
Where: Bleacher Bar (bleacherbarboston.com)
Why: The locally loved spot in front of the garage doors looking into Fenway Park is perfect for those who never miss a game, whatever the game is.
To wear: For starters, throw on a designer hoodie. Swift’s $5K-ish Louis Vuitton number may not be attainable, but the French Terry Chevron Hoodie by Tory Burch ($175 on toryburch.com) sure is.
To celebrate: Look to the drinks menu, and mark the moment with a Jack Tennessee Fire.
For: The True Blue Bostonian
Where: Bubble Bath (bubblebathboston.com)
Why: The new Back Bay bar-restaurant from award-winning chef Tiffany Faison will have both of you swooning — over each other, and also the panoramic views of Boston and Cambridge.
To wear: On the picturesque outdoor patio, look like a dream in the Stretch-Sateen Sweetheart Maxi Dress ($250 on bananarepublic.gap.com)
To celebrate: The caviar cart includes an over-the-leading-decadent cannoli that’s filled with a savory crème fraîche that then gets dipped in — you got it — caviar.
For: The High Roller
Where: Old Wives Tale at Encore Boston Harbor (encorebostonharbor.com)
Why: The secret speakeasy within the restaurant Seamark is the perfect private space for making a Big Life decision, followed by a bit of gambling later.
To wear: You’re at a casino, so have a blast in the Fringe Fashion Gold Sequin Fringe Bodycon Mini Dress ($55.30 on lulus.com).
To celebrate: The spicy crab fried rice, all the way.
For: The Summering Set
Where: Billie’s on Nantucket (billiesnantucket.com)
Why: The brand new steakhouse on Nantucket boasts gorgeous rooms, and smells of rich mahogany.
To wear: Brooks Brothers, of course, as in the Brooks Brothers Lyocell-Blend Pinstripe Trench Dress ($298 on brooksbrothers.com)
To celebrate: The sumptuous cowboy ribeye.
