BOSTON – Carolina Hurricanes forward Nikolaj Ehlers will try to extend his point streak to eight games on Monday when the Carolina Hurricanes open a four-game road trip in Boston.
After some adjusting to start the season, the summer signing has points in 11 of his last 13 games, including a goal in two of his last three.
On the blue line, Domenick Fensore joined the team on Sunday night, recalled from Chicago (AHL). With Jalen Chatfield, Charles Alexis Legault, and Jaccob Slavin all still on the shelf, the team adds an extra defenseman to start their week away from Raleigh.
“If somebody gets sick, which could be the case tonight – we had one guy who wasn’t feeling great – then suddenly you’re left with nobody,” Rod Brind’Amour reasoned pre-game. “He’s competitive. He’s not the biggest guy, but he plays as hard as he can every night. He’s a good offensive player and can certainly move the puck. He can jump in the rush and does a lot of great things when he has the puck.”
