Donald Trump’s dinner in Washington, D.C., didn’t stay quiet for long.
Trump stopped at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab on Monday night to showcase what he’s calling a safer capital under his federal crime crackdown. The outing marked his first time dining at a D.C. restaurant since returning to the White House.
But not everyone was there to clap. Outside the steakhouse, protesters gathered, chanting “Free D.C.! Free Palestine!” while others shouted, “Trump is the Hitler of our time.” Videos from inside show demonstrators breaking through the cheers of supporters to call out Trump directly as he greeted diners.
Supporters gave him standing ovations and snapped selfies as he shook hands at tables. At one point, he told the crowd they could head home without worrying about crime and joked, “don’t drink too much.” Still, the loud interruptions reminded everyone that his presence in D.C. remains divisive.
Trump dined with his Cabinet, including Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while balancing both praise and pushback. Despite the shouts comparing him to Hitler, he carried on, using the dinner to drive home his point that Washington is “safe” under his series.
