immediately that we’re all adjusting to the new sunrises and sunset times, we’re entering a weather pattern that will be quite busy in the coming week.
Our first round of rain will roll in here later Monday afternoon. Despite the chilly (cold?) start, we manage to bounce back into the upper 50s as the clouds tighten and lower. We’re not expecting much rain this time around, but part of the evening drive may be wet.
This system zips out overnight, and as the skies clear, the wind returns. Gusts will be 30 mph or more late tonight and 40+ Tuesday. There isn’t much time for the wind to linger, since the next weather system is rolling in by Wednesday.
This one has even less rain, much of which stays in northern New England. With its passage, another round of wind will carry into Thursday. This time around, the push of cold air will be more significant. Highs will only manage the low 50s. Temperatures will be on the mend Friday and Saturday as two more systems line up for the weekend.
If it seems like there’s a lot going on, there is. This is the time of rapid change as we transition to winter, so it’s a good idea to keep tabs on the forecast. Even though it seems like we’ve managed to iron out all the kinks this week, there still may be some timing issues with rain arrival/departure times.
Speaking of rain, October joins May as the only two months of above normal precipitation in Boston this year. Through the 2nd of this month, we remain almost three inches below normal for the year.
Have a good week!
