We have one more day of summery warmth before October reality sets in. Highs on Tuesday again will reach into the low 80s, but breezes will be a bit stronger, and some clouds will move in during the afternoon.
Temperatures will be a smidge cooler across southeastern Massachusetts, thanks to the wind off the water. Humidity ramps up as a sharp cold front approaches later overnight.

Rain should break out in the wee hours of the morning. This front is juiced with a couple of imbedded downpours, so there should be some beneficial water here. Model projections have been all over the place, but generally we’re in the half inch to inch range for rainfall through Wednesday midday.
Even better, the rain should taper off in the early afternoon, with sun returning in the mid-afternoon. Temps barely budge, starting in the mid-60s and then rising to the upper 60s.

Colder air rushes in Wednesday night and holds through Friday morning. We’ll only see highs in the 50s Thursday – with full sun! Friday morning will feature a widespread killing frost/freeze in all but some coastal communities (including the Boston Waterfront). We will recover somewhat on Friday as we bounce back into the low 60s.
The big issue in the forecast is whether we’ll see a developing coastal storm late this weekend and early next week. It’s a wet and windy wherever this storm wanders, but right immediately, guidance is not certain it will pay us a visit. We could stay on the edge if it, giving us light rain, cool temps, and a steady northeast breeze.
We’ll see how it plays out.
