Gretchen Rossi is firing back at her Real Housewives of Orange County castmates, who were seen questioning her about her finances and future with Slade Smiley on last week’s episode of the show.
After her co-stars, including Emily Simpson, 49, wondered why she hadn’t made it official with Slade, 51, after being together for over 16 years and asked how involved he was with their bills, Gretchen, 46, suspected the ladies had an “ulterior motive” as she denied holding out due to their finances and Tamra Judge, 58, Gina Kirschenheiter, 41, and more weighed in.
“I feel like they were probing and trying to get information out of me. I felt like they had an ulterior motive of why they were asking the questions, let’s put it that way,” Gretchen said on the September 18 episode of the RHOC: After Show.
“I heard that the reason you guys couldn’t get married was because you were worried about finances,” Jennifer Pedranti, 48, replied.
“That’s not true,” Gretchen insisted.
But according to Gina, Gretchen previously opened up about Slade’s money troubles.
“She had said that basically when the economy crashed, Slade lost a lot,” Gina shared. “I think it was 2008. The housing crisis. And I think sh*t happens. If you lost everything and that’s like an explanation for what’s happening in your life, why can’t you just say that?”
“He’s had 14 years to rebuild,” Tamra noted as her co-stars said he had “17 [years].”
Elsewhere, Heather Dubrow, 56, said she did not think Gretchen and Slade would “ever get married.”
“She was very clear about, it’s her house and her money and her things,” she explained.
Then, after Shannon Beador, 61, said she felt that the couple would get married for the sake of their six-year-old daughter, Skylar Gray, noting that to her, “that would be important,” Heather confirmed that Gretchen had “told [her] she could never marry [Slade].”
“But it’s for the financial reasons, not that she didn’t care about him,” Shannon replied.
“Then why propose with a helicopter?” Heather wondered.
