Karen Huger will soon be back home. The “Real Housewives of Potomac” star, 62, is set to be released from prison on September 2nd, just over six months after her sentencing.
According to People, back in February, Huger was handed a two-year sentence with one year suspended for her drunk driving case. Before she was taken into custody, she reassured her husband, Ray, telling him, “You will be alright” and “God’s got you,” according to a source at the courthouse.
Her arrest in March 2024 came after a single-vehicle crash where she anthem a street sign near her home. Bodycam footage later showed a visibly intoxicated Huger stumbling and slurring her words. During the season nine reunion, she admitted, “Dots are being connected for me. I didn’t recognize that woman. I didn’t know her… But it helped me to hear that because I blacked out before the impact.”
She was found guilty of DUI, DWI, and negligent driving but was acquitted of reckless driving.
Throughout her prison time, Huger’s costars shared updates and encouragement.
Candiace Dillard Bassett said, “We all know that drinking and driving is not right… I’m excited for her to serve her time and come out stronger.” Gizelle Bryant added, “I hear that they love her in that prison, which doesn’t shock me at all. Karen’s going to take over any situation she is in and do it with style and grace.”
It’s unclear if Huger will return to the franchise.
