Season 6 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City recently premiered, and so far, Mary Cosby remains one of the fan-favorites. today, she’s opening up about what fans can expect from the show, her status with Angie Katsanevas, and more in a new interview.
Regarding Mary, 52, and Angie, 51, the two became close friends during the fifth season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. However, the up-to-date trailer for the show reveals a slight rift between the two.
Mary sat down for an interview with Decider in September 2025. One of the first questions she faced related to how she felt about returning for another season. She said, “Oh, I wasn’t expecting that question. It was great. It’s becoming more and more natural. So, I’m just bracing myself for some and then ready to receive others.”
Later, she was asked about her thoughts on Whitney Rose, 38, pranking the ladies with the fake arrest. She stated, “Where’s Jen Shah? What are we doing? What is going on right today? This is not OK. I felt fear in the beginning. Like, is this real? And they were like, ‘They want Whitney!’ And I was like, ‘OK, this is fake.’ And then I got it.”
They also discussed the trip from the premiere episode that she co-hosted with Angie. Regarding what she would have done differently, Mary said, “I would have actually picked everyone up in the RV and then drove them to a private plane and then flown them to a private destination.”
She went on, “It probably would have been ideal for me not to actually drive the entire trip in the RV. It was not what I was [expecting]. But it happened, and it was beautiful.”
As fans know, Lisa Barlow, 50, was absent from the premiere episode, and there was some discussion among the ladies about her reason for missing the trip. Regarding why she thinks Lisa skipped out, Mary stated, “I don’t know. I can only speculate. I don’t know what her real reasoning was.”
The RHOSLC star added, “I didn’t think it was fair for us, but I just accepted it because that’s what happened. After a minute, I just gave it no mind and just kept moving. She wasn’t there, but it was kind of her loss.” She was also asked about Angie’s comparison of Lisa’s legal issues to Jen Shah’s.
In response, Mary explained, “That wasn’t right. You don’t compare no one to Jen Shah. That’s not OK. I feel like Angie sometimes can be reckless. I can, too. But that was a little much.” She went on, “I just feel like Lisa runs a real business. And Jen did not. I just think that comparing the two was just a little outlandish and a little much. [It’s] Angie just being Angie.”
When asked about her current thoughts on Britani Bateman, 54, Mary said, “Do I have to say it? I just wish we were cartoons. You know how cartoons body slam people, swing them around? That’s my real intimate thought. I wish I could body slam her. No, I’m kidding. Or poof her, be gone.”
She continued, “But no, I’m just my authentic self, and I need that energy to come back to me. I don’t need fake. I need a real, genuine person wanting to know who I am. And I just never got that from her.”
From there, they discussed her fallout with Angie and where they stand today. According to Mary, “As you will see, she does a couple of things to agitate me on this journey. I love Angie, and I feel like we are close and we’re getting closer. So, when you really authentically get close to someone, you have rifts, you have fights, you have disagreements, and that’s kind of what you will see in this season.”
She then said of Angie, “But I think Angie is amazing. I love her, I will always love her, and I think she’s a great addition to the show.” Later, the interviewer asked Mary about the Below Deck crossover and if any of her co-stars would be a good match for Captain Jason Chambers, 52.
She responded, “No. I just don’t see it. I don’t feel it. I don’t know. I mean, he really checked out – well, maybe I shouldn’t say that. He was checking out Bronwyn. But she’s married, so that can’t happen.”
She went on, “But I didn’t see him checking out anyone else. I was, like, sizing him. I’m like, “Who is he looking at? Who’s he checking out?” Him and Heather got along good, but I don’t see them as a match. Britani, of course. You know Britani was lapping like a dog. But that took a turn for the worse.”
Regarding the crossover, she said, “It’s amazing. What I love about it is that Below Deck will have their episode, and then we have ours. So, you get to see both sides of the scenario. What they say about us is going to be interesting to me. I feel like I had the most manners. I hope they say that. You guys are in for a treat, though. You are. We’ve got some juicy, juicy things coming. ”
Toward the end of the interview, Mary was asked if she would be open to Monica Garcia, 42, rejoining the series in the future. She said, “Absolutely. I love Monica. I would love to have her back. I try not to think about it or talk about it because I don’t know how it’s looking. It’s not my decision, but I have no ill will with Monica at all. I think she made a good fit for this cast. However, you know, it didn’t work out.”
She also stated that they text from time to time. Lastly, the subject of her son came up. Regarding how he’s doing, Mary answered, “Robert is doing the best he can do. It’s his journey. I can’t make his mind up for him. I can’t walk him through it. He has to do it himself. That’s why I say he’s doing the best he can. He’s trying, and that’s all I can ask for him.”
RHOSLC airs on Tuesday nights on Bravo.
