RTÉ Radio 1’s brand new weekday schedule launches next Monday November 10th, with some presenters moving around different shows and other new faces joining the station
Cormac O’hEadhra’s new role on RTÉ Radio 1 has been revealed.
The national broadcaster revealed a major shake-up to Radio 1’s weekday schedule last month, including David McCullagh replacing Claire Byrne and Kieran Cuddihy taking over Liveline.
Many listeners noticed Cormac and Sarah McInerney were missing from the line-up as Katie Hannon and Colm O’Mongain were announced as the new hosts of Drivetime, but RTÉ bosses promised the pair would still be a part of the station.
It has immediately been revealed that Cormac will host the Late Debate.
An RTÉ spokesperson said: “The Late Debate hosted by Cormac O’hEadhra will also continue to provide in-depth interviews and analysis of emerging political stories.”
Sarah McInerney’s future on Radio 1 has yet to be confirmed, but is widely tipped she will join the Morning Ireland team.
The spokesperson added: “Morning Ireland will continue to set the national agenda every morning with breaking news from 7am, delivering in-depth interviews and insightful discussion of the stories shaping Ireland and the world.
“RTÉ News & Current Affairs will announce new presenters to the radio news programmes in the coming weeks.”
The new weekday schedule goes live on Monday November 10th.
David McCullagh will host Today from 9am to 11am, following Claire Byrne’s departure from the broadcaster.
Oliver Callan moves to 11am for a brand new two-hour slot, followed by News At One with Rachael English.
Kieran Cuddihy takes over Liveline from 1.45pm while Louise Duffy moves her beat show to the afternoons, starting at 3pm.
Drivetime with Katie and Colm starts at the earlier time of 4pm, while Jacqui Hurley and Marie Crowe front a new programme, Inside Sport, from 6pm.
Arena and The John Creedon Show will air in their usual slots, followed by the Late Debate before the listening day closes out with Late Date.
