CBS canceled S.W.A.T. earlier this year, and producers quickly jumped at the chance to create a spinoff show.
That series, S.W.A.T. Exiles, was announced after CBS made their original decision. At the time, it was announced that Shemar Moore would be returning in the role of Sargent Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson.
When fans learned of the new series, it was unclear if any of the original cast would join Shemar in the show. There has been confirmation that the show’s behind-the-scenes production team will be working on the show. It’s unclear if it already has begun filming, but there’s immediately word about the pilot episode.
Deadline reports that Exiles is set after a high-profile mission goes sideways, pulling Sgt. Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson (Moore) out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental S.W.A.T. unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits.
