The inquiry that ignited the fun moment between the two ladies was, ‘Are you in group 7? 😂’ Their playful argument of asking each other whether they belong to “that group” continued for a long time, and while Haines was playing the role of a confused person, saying she would have to consult her teenage son to understand the allusion.

The clip, which portrays a true moment of bewilderment and hilarity among the co-hosts, has ignited a lot of curiosity on the internet. The majority of the audience was completely baffled so they hastened to the commenting sections and sought clarifications. One user articulated what seemed to be the common feeling of others when she wrote, ‘Okay, Sara let us in on the joke!😂please!’ Another user nearly echoed this one but expressed, ‘I want to comprehend it so badly! 😂’ The intrigue was so powerful that it even transcended the age barrier, a user stating, ‘My 4-year-old granddaughter keeps saying 6, 7 and laughing… obviously, she’s hearing it, wtH does this mean?? Help 😂😂’ This clearly indicates the vastness of the inside joke across age groups, thus making a lot of people feel like they are not part of it.
Fortunately, there were a few people who seemed to know the truth and helped out the lost ones in the comments. One user narrated a very rich origin story, stating, ‘Musician Sophia James produced a series of 7 videos to find out which one would become the most favorite on the site, revealing in the last video that those who watched it were in “Group 7.” So, you see, it’s not that one gets to be a member through an action. Another person seconded the first and added, ‘It’s not your choice to join: the group is determined by luck, based on the order of videos a user sees on their “For You” page. Searching for the video and viewing it doesn’t mean you’re in the group.’ The element of chance, dictated by algorithms, has become a key attraction in the trend, thus a sense of a secretive, online community is created.
The revealing of the ‘Group 7’ riddle was accompanied with other comments on the video. One of them was regarding a transformation in Alyssa Farah Griffin’s looks, one user said, ‘I didn’t recognize Alyssa when she wasn’t made up but she is nice anyway. Good outfit too.’ Another was asking about Alyssa’s wardrobe and said, ‘I NEED TO KNOW WHERE Alyssa got that track suit? 🔥❤️’ and another user suggested brand Aviator Nation as a possible place. There was also a short slapstick humor moment, as one viewer followed the trail of the dropped ice and observed, ‘All that ice falling out and not making it into Alyssas cup! 😂’
Another factor that really drew in the viewers was the excellent relationship of the ‘The View’ co-hosts. One of the users translated her admiration into a comment: ‘I love Alyssa… and you too, Sarah. You’re all amazing women.’ Another user found it funny that co-host Sunny Hostin was apparently so clueless about the joke that she claimed, ‘Sunny is definitely NOT in Group 7!!!!!!’ This was followed by a similar one from another user, ‘I don’t know what group 7 is, but Sunny doesn’t know either 😂😂’ On the contrary, those who were aware of the inside joke indicated their membership with comments like ‘GROUP 7 AND Team Blue!!’ and ‘Blue dot in Ohio also in Group 7!!’ showing the community aspect of viral impact of the phenomenon.
