Princess Beatrice and Eugenie are reportedly “concerned” for their mother Sarah Ferguson‘s wellbeing after her and their father ex-Prince Andrew‘s royal exile.
A source told Radar Online in a report published on November 16 that many members of the British royal family, including Fergie’s daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, believe she’s headed down a “dangerous downward spiral” and is “losing her grip” after she and Andrew lost their royal titles and home at Royal Lodge following their association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“Sarah’s been drinking heavily lately. She says it helps her unwind, but it’s gone way beyond that – she’s staying up late most nights with a glass in her hand. Everyone around her is deeply concerned because she seems genuinely scared about what’s ahead. Considering her recent health issues, what she’s doing – pickling her organs – could be seen as suicidal or a death wish,” the insider said, adding that those close to Fergie believe she’s “drowning her sorrows.”
Another source called Fergie’s alleged behavior “heartbreaking” after her battle with two forms of cancer. She was previously diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 and melanoma, a type of skin cancer, in 2024.
“She’s become very fragile and emotional. Some nights she talks about everything she’s lost – her place in the family, her home, her direction in life. She’s terrified of ending up with nothing, and those close to her are afraid she might reach a breaking point,” the insider said.
As for her daughters, the source claimed that Beatrice and Eugenie have been encouraging Fergie to “ease up on the drinking.” “The girls are deeply concerned,” the insider said. “They’re constantly checking in, urging her to ease up on the drinking and take care of herself. They’ve even reached out to other relatives to make sure someone’s always looking out for her.”
Fergie’s older sister, public relations executive Jane Ferguson Luedecke, also recently flew from Australia to London to offer her support, according to Radar Online’s source. “Jane’s doing her best to cheer her up, but Sarah just isn’t herself,” the insider said. “She’s been in tears often and keeps saying she feels stuck. She still promises to support Andrew, but deep down she knows their paths have split – and it’s really weighing on her.”
The inside also noted that Fergie and Andrew’s relationship has deteriorated dramatically ever since their royal exile started. “They’re basically strangers today,” the insider said. “Andrew spends his time shut away, pacing and mumbling to himself, while Sarah retreats to her bar or stays in her room. The only time they come together is for meals, and even then, it’s just endless talk about their problems. It’s a really grim atmosphere.”
The source continued, “Sarah’s petrified she’ll get dragged down with everything surrounding Andrew. She’s convinced there are shadowy figures keeping tabs on him and fears she could be next. It might sound far-fetched, but she’s truly rattled.”
As for what’s keeping her going, the source noted that Fergie has taken comfort in Sandy and Muick, two corgis who once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II that Andrew gifted to her following his mother’s death. “The pets are what keep her grounded,” the insider said. “They’re the only thing that truly soothes her. But when evening comes and she’s alone again in The Doghouse, all the anxiety and dark thoughts creep back in.”
