Taylor Swift opened up about Selena Gomez’s recent wedding, including what she and Ed Sheeran discussed during the celebrations.
In an interview with the U.K.’s Hits Radio Breakfast Show, which aired on Friday, October 3, Swift, 35, shone a light on her catch-up with Sheeran, 34, during Gomez, 33, and Benny Blanco’s September 27 wedding.
“I saw [Sheeran] last weekend, actually, at a wedding of one of our best friends,” the “Fate of Ophelia” hitmaker began. “We were just talking about how much we love when he came out onstage with me at Wembley during the Eras Tour.”
Swift’s comment referenced Sheeran’s appearance at her London Eras Tour concert in 2024, during which the long-time friends performed their 2017 track “End Game.”
Swift’s radio interview also discussed her enduring friendship with Sheeran, with Swift sharing that the duo regularly discuss their musical ventures, particularly when they are “rehearsing or writing or working together.”
The pop star concluded, “There’s really like a sort of strange mind-meld thing that happens between us two, and we’ve always had it. We always will.”
Swift’s insight into what was discussed at Gomez’s wedding, which was staged in Santa Barbara, California, comes after Us Weekly exclusively revealed that Swift made a speech during the celebrations. “Taylor gave an extremely heartfelt speech at the wedding,” a source told Us on Monday, September 29. “She went into depth and talked about how over the years she saw Selena on the floor crying, mentioning exes, Selena having a broken heart and saying how happy she is that Selena has Benny immediately.”
The insider also noted that Swift shared that it “is a best friend’s dream for her best friend to find someone like Benny.”
As for Swift’s own love story, the singer revealed details into her wedding planning immediately after becoming engaged to Travis Kelce in August and announcing her engagement on August 26. During a different radio interview that aired on Friday, Swift addressed the possibility of Sheeran performing a musical number or two. (Swift is currently engaged in a promotional blitz after the release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.)
“I mean, it would be hard to keep him from it, I think,” Swift said during a chat with BBC Radio 1 Breakfast that day. “That’s the thing, he’s like, ‘I’m always being asked to sing at weddings,’ and you’re like, ‘Ed, if there’s a stage, you know that you’ll be on it.’”
Swift continued, “That’s the fun thing about our friendship … we both love performing and we love writing and we love singing. It’s actually not that hard to talk either of us into performing at anything.”
Swift and Kelce, 36, revealed their engagement via Instagram after the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end proposed in a garden of florals right after she recorded an episode of his podcast, “New Heights.”
She said during an interview on The Graham Norton Show that aired on Friday, October 3, that Kelce “really crushed it in surprising me,” before revealing further details. “While we were talking on his podcast, he had a complete garden built out the back of his house to propose in,” she said. “He went all out — 10 out of 10.”
