This week in style was a big one for couples, so you’ll want to buckle up (we’re talking to you, Swifties).
We’ve got everything from colossal engagement rings and repurposed wedding dresses to, oh yeah, everything Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
The lovebirds basically took over the internet with the pop star’s surprise album reveal to the tight end’s super sexy fashion cover shoot. Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend of eight years, Georgina Rodriguez, also sparked some buzz when they shared a new photo of her larger-than-life engagement ring (jewelry experts estimate it’s worth $5 million!) while Nicola Peltz Beckham breathed new life into her mother’s 1985 wedding dress for her vow renewal ceremony to Brooklyn Peltz Beckham.
Read on for the best, worst and “oops” style moments of the week.
Best Display of Diamonds: Taylor Swift in Over 76 Carats Worth of Gemstones
Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot
Okay, there’s a lot to unpack here, but it’s all good because TS12 is on the horizon.
On Aug. 13, Taylor Swift revealed the concept photos of her 12th studio album and we’ve got two words for you: sexy showgirl.
After announcing her upcoming record, The Life of Showgirl, on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, the pop star officially released all the album art, which sees her dressed in glitzy costumes and an eye-popping number of diamonds and gemstones — over 76 carats to be exact. Aside from that, the “Fortnight” singer also revealed the orange aesthetic for her new era, which she said on New Heights represents her “exuberant and electric and vibrant” life behind the scenes of the Eras Tour. Stock up on your favorite coral lipsticks, because we have a feeling they’ll be flying off the shelves pretty soon.
Most Hairy Moment: Travis Kelce Rocking His Chest Hair for ‘GQ’
Ryan McGinley/GQ
Travis Kelce left his football cleats and Kansas City Chiefs uniform at home when he arrived on set for his GQ spread.
Styled by Law Roach, the tight end got in the modeling groove on the set of his Florida Everglades cover shoot, which featured, more often than not, a shirtless Kelce revealing his chest hair. Roach, who famously works with Zendaya, Céline Dion and Ariana Grande, shared all the manly photos on Instagram, writing “And then THIS happened….” Touché.
Most Jaw-Dropping Engagement Ring Reveal: Georgina Rodriguez’s $5 Million Rock
Georgina Rodríguez/Tiktok (2)
On Aug. 11, Cristiano Ronaldo announced his engagement to model Georgina Rodriguez with a photo of the bride-to-be’s new sparkler. We’ve seen a lot of celebrity engagement diamonds in our day, but let’s just say this one has to be the ring that ends all rings.
Rodriguez’s new accessory is so large — make that, colossal — that jewelry experts estimate its benefit to be up to 37 carats with a seven-figure rate tag (they also predict the center stone alone to be worth up to 35 carats). Our favorite reaction had to be from social media influencer and jewelry aficionado Julia Chafe, who joked: “Just imagine wearing a 100-pound kettlebell on your finger all day, everyday. Painful but worth it.”
No, but really, she’s going to get an insane arm workout before she even walks down the aisle. You better work!
Best Vintage Throwback: Nicola Peltz Beckham Rewearing Her Mom’s 1985 Wedding Dress
Dennis Leopould
Nicola Peltz Beckham added a special touch to her vow renewal ceremony to Brooklyn Peltz Beckham by rewearing her mom Claudia Heffner Peltz’s bridal gown from her 1985 nuptials to Nelson Peltz.
The Lola director repurposed the 40-year-old gown by taking in the waist to create a corset-like bodice and adjusting the floral appliqué sleeves to create a romantic off-the-shoulder silhouette.
For the afterparty, Nicola changed into a sheer butterfly dress from Dolce & Gabbana’s 1998 Spring collection, which gave us a case of double déjà vu.
Oh Snap Moment: Jenna Ortega’s Near Wardrobe Malfunction
Park Jong-ha/Netflix
Jenna Ortega and her stylist, Enrique Melendez, have been jet-setting around the world promoting part 1 of season 2 of Wednesday. That means, the two are booked and busy serving gothic style slays all day — with one exception.
In a behind-the-scenes video taken by Melendez during the cast’s press stop in Seoul, South Korea, he revealed that his client ran into a dilemma when she had to walk up the stairs in her “super slim” Dilara Findikoglu leather dress. According to him, maneuvering in the dress was a “struggle” for the actress, but at least she looked good doing it.
