Noah Wyle is sharing how reality will be reflected in season 2 of The Pitt.
HBO Max‘s medical drama didn’t shy away from the reality of an hour in the emergency room during the first season. According to the 54-year-old star and producer of the series, they plan to address Donald Trump‘s administration’s cuts to Medicaid programs in season 2.
Noah was joined by executive producers John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill for an interview with Variety where they talked about the current political landscape’s impact on the next season of the show.

“You don’t have to take a political position to discuss what the impact [of the Medicaid changes] is actually going to be,” said executive producer John in the interview.
John went on to cite politicians from both parties that admit it will be an issue, saying, “They’re going to have on-the-ground, immediate consequences in emergency rooms, and nobody’s arguing with that. That’s a bipartisan agreement. You’ve got very Republican senators from Missouri like Josh Hawley agreeing that this is going to be a problem.”
Noah, who stars in the series along with creating it, also shared how the show plans to stay true to life in the emergency room without alienating viewers by making a political statement.
“We have a certain safety net in just being a realistic drama by trying to depict what it looks like in a hospital,” Noah told the publication. “You’re not making worth judgments. You’re just painting a picture, and if it’s accurate enough and it’s representative enough, it becomes a bit of a Rorschach test. You see what you want to see in it and you draw your own conclusions from it. If it looks like the system is untenable, unfair and skewed towards one population over another, maybe it is.”
