Two residents were taken to a hospital Wednesday evening as a result of a three-alarm fire at a multi-family home in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood, according to the city’s fire department.

Firefighters responded to the Beckett Street home around 7 p.m. and found heavy flames burning through all three of the building’s rear porches, the Boston Fire Department said. A half-hour later, crews had knocked down the fire on the porches, but were still chasing flames on the side of the home and in its garage.

By 8 p.m., firefighters had extinguished the fire, but two residents had been taken to a hospital, the fire department said. The fire left 18 people displaced and destroyed the home’s porches.
