In a major move that reflects growing consumer demand for cleaner food, Tyson Foods has announced it will stop using high-fructose corn syrup in its branded products by the end of this year. But that’s just the beginning.
By the end of 2025, the company also plans to eliminate sucralose, preservatives BHA and BHT, and the color additive titanium dioxide from its lineup.
“We continuously analysis and assess our product portfolio to ensure the highest quality products that meet the needs of consumers,” said Tyson Foods President and CEO Donnie King.
He added, “Our decision to remove high-fructose corn syrup and other ingredients reflects our ongoing commitment to feeding the world like family, while preserving the taste, worth and integrity that define our iconic brands.”
The shift will impact a long list of household names under the Tyson umbrella, including Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farm, State Fair, Wright, Aidells, and IBP.
Earlier this year, Tyson had already removed petroleum-based synthetic dyes from its domestic product lines. The company says these efforts line up with its core values and long-term goals of improving nutritional transparency.
The change also comes at a time when national leadership is pushing food producers to rethink what goes into the American diet. Health officials, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., have voiced concerns about artificial additives, dyes, and excess sugar contributing to chronic health issues.
Tyson is framing the change as a proactive step toward earning and keeping consumer trust.
