Victoria Beckham is opening up about her marriage to husband and former professional footballer David Beckham.
The couple, who tied the knot in July 1999, have spent more than two decades together, and the former Spice Girls member is getting candid about what it really takes to keep their 26-year relationship alive.
In a new interview with Elle published yesterday, Beckham reflected on growth and change within a long-term relationship.
“So often in relationships, one will say to the other, ‘You’ve changed.’ Well, of course you’ve changed! You’re a different person when you’re 20 than when you’re 50,” she shared.
The English fashion designer met Beckham in 1997, got engaged in 1998 and welcomed their first child, Brooklyn Joseph the next year. They got hitched at Luttrellstown Castle just outside of Dublin in July of 1999. The couple today shares four children together.
Beckham also contributed her successful marriage to David sticking by her through thick and thin.
“He believed in me when a lot of people didn’t. He invested in me,” she told Elle. “At times I’ve been a laughingstock, people not taking my business seriously, but he always believed in me.”
The 51-year-old took to Instagram to celebrate their 26-year anniversary on July 4th writing in her caption, “Another year, another chapter in our love story. ♥️I’m so proud of the beautiful family and life we’ve built together.”
“You and our four incredible children complete me, ” she continued. “I love you so much @davidbeckham xx Here’s to 26 years!! xx.”
