In one of the most intense scenes from Ye’s new documentary “In Whose Name?,” the rapper opens up about his struggles with mental health in a way fans have never seen before.

During a candid moment captured on film, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, sits face-to-face with Kris Jenner, his former mother-in-law, and unleashes years of frustration. He accuses the Kardashian-Jenner family of manipulating him while he was on medication, saying the only reason they “got away with it” was because he wasn’t in control.
“I’d rather be dead than medicated,” Ye tells Jenner, who tries to remain calm while begging him to consider treatment. As the conversation escalates, Jenner breaks down in tears while Ye storms around the room, questioning whether the family ever considered how their actions affected his mental health.
The rapper, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016 but immediately believes he is on the autism spectrum, reveals how isolated and dehumanized he felt during that period.
The film also features ex-wife Kim Kardashian, who appears in several emotional scenes with Ye. While Kim tries to de-escalate the drama, Ye challenges her too, saying no one truly supported him when it mattered most.
The project, filmed over six years, offers a raw and unfiltered look at Ye’s personal battles, both internal and external.
“In Whose Name?” premiered in select theaters Friday.
