5 injured, 1 dead after two shootings at DC nightclubs


At least five people were injured in a shooting inside a nightclub in the Dupont Circle neighborhood in Northwest D.C. late Friday night.

At least five people were injured in a shooting after a dispute in a nightclub in the Dupont Circle neighborhood in Northwest D.C. late Friday night. A man was killed at a shooting that took place hours later, at another nightclub in the U Street Corridor.

Reports for the shooting on the 1200 block of Connecticut Avenue NW and 18th Street NW came in around 11:30 p.m.

Five people, four men and one woman, were wounded during the shooting and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. D.C. Police also confirmed to WTOP that one suspect is in custody and a weapon was recovered from the scene.

Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Chief Ramey Kyle said in a post on X that the incident happened following a dispute that started inside the nightclub and spilled into the street. Police are still investigating if the shooting started in the club or outside.

In a post on X, D.C. Police announced, that “the scene is secure and there is no further threat to the community.”

Multiple news outlets reported that the shooting took place outside of Decades nightclub and that the dispute began inside the business. Police told WTOP that they are still actively investigating which nightclub the dispute took place in.

Another shooting took place early Friday morning about a mile and a half away, in the 1300 block of U Street, NW.

The shooting took place at another nightclub and a man was killed, police told WTOP.

Police are looking for two men connected to the U Street shooting, one of which was wearing a white or gray sweatshirt and riding a motorcycle.
