D.C.-area forecast: Much cooler today as rounds of showers pass by

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

3/10: We could use a break in the heat and also some rain. But another wet weekend … why?!

  • Today: Showers or periodic light rain. Highs: Mid-50s to low 60s.
  • Tonight: Occasional showers. Lows: 50s.
  • Tomorrow: Showers and storms possible. Highs: Mid-60s to low 70s.

Fortunately, the way above normal temperatures of the week have waned. Unfortunately, that means gray skies and much cooler temperatures just in time for Saturday. It’ll rain off and on a good chunk of the weekend before sunnier times return to start the workweek.

Today (Saturday): Showers could pass by at times much of the day. It won’t rain nonstop, but it’ll be damp and dreary. With the thick cloud cover and some rain plus an east wind, we’re feeling much different than seen recently. Highs make the mid-50s north and west while perhaps rising as warm as the low 60s in southern Maryland. Winds are from the east around 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Occasional showers probably continue to dance through the region. Some drizzle and fog may also develop. Staying cool, with temperatures fairly steady into lows ranging from about 53 to 59. Winds blow from the east and southeast around 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Showers move east of the area, and skies trend a bit clearer. Lows end up near and north of 60 most spots. Confidence: Medium

A mix of sun and clouds seems likely by Monday. There’s still a chance of a shower or storm, particularly in the afternoon. High temperatures end up mainly in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Showers and storms may move into the area near and after sunset. Confidence: Medium

Similar for Tuesday but maybe less chance of rain. Under partial sunshine, highs range from around 80 to the low 80s. Confidence: Medium
