D.C.-area forecast: Much cooler today with plenty of clouds

6/10: More clouds and noticeably cooler than Saturday. Still, it’s not a bad day if dressed for temperatures that may not, or may only barely, touch 60 degrees.

  • Tonight: Clearing skies and somewhat chilly. Lows: Upper 30s to low 40s.
  • Tomorrow: Mostly sunny, warmer. Highs: Mid- to upper 60s.

We’re noticeably cloudier and cooler today as temperatures struggle to near 60. Monday and Tuesday start the workweek in fine style with mostly sunny skies and a nice warming trend, with highs well into the 60s on Monday and near or over 70 on Tuesday. A few showers are possible late Tuesday night into Wednesday with a gusty breeze.

Today (Sunday): Temperatures start this morning in the 40s, only reaching the upper 50s to low 60s for daytime highs. With low pressure to our south, skies range from mostly cloudy south of D.C., where a light shower or sprinkle is possible, to partly sunny from D.C. to the north. Winds are light from the northwest. Tomorrow (Monday): An area of high pressure settles in, which leads to mostly sunny skies and somewhat warmer conditions compared to Sunday. We can expect daytime highs in the mid- to upper 60s. It looks like a great day for a long walk, just remember the sunscreen! Confidence: High

Tuesday looks pretty nice, as well, perhaps the pick of the week. With mostly sunny skies, daytime highs should reach near or over 70 as a breeze from the south kicks in. Confidence: Medium-High

Tuesday night lows dip to the upper 40s to mid-50s with a chance of showers after midnight. A few showers are still possible Wednesday as a cold front comes through. Otherwise, Wednesday brings partly sunny skies and a gusty breeze as highs top out in the upper 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Low-Medium

High pressure returns Thursday, turning skies mostly sunny again with highs near 60 to the mid-60s. Confidence: Medium
