Former WBZ News anchor Liam Martin heading to Boston PR agency: ‘Incredibly excited’

Former WBZ News anchor Liam Martin, who announced last week that he was leaving TV news, is heading to a Boston public relations agency.

Martin, who had been with WBZ for almost a decade and was waking up at 2 a.m. as a morning anchor, is joining Newsmaker Marketing — where he’ll be a partner and chief marketing officer.

The Boston PR agency was founded by former broadcast journalist Jackie Bruno, who Martin has known for many years in the media world. The PR firm’s president is Rachel Robbins, who’s a former TV news producer.

“I am incredibly excited to join this immensely talented team,” Martin said in a statement. “I have known Jackie for many years from our days as reporters out in the field, and she is a force — as a storyteller and now as a passionate advocate for Newsmaker’s clients.

“I’ve also already witnessed firsthand Rachel’s giant talent as a public relations professional and TV producer,” Martin added. “It’s no mystery how they’ve managed to take Boston’s PR and marketing scene by storm, and I feel very lucky to be joining them.”
