Google Suddenly Launches Even Better Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel Fold Special Offers

Google’s latest smartphones are suddenly on special offer again. This is not the first time this year that this has happened, but the Google Store is now chopping the prices harder than before.

Take the Pixel 8 Pro, which retails for $999. In the last sale it dropped to $799. Right now, you can snap it up for $749, a $250 discount. The reduced price applies to all four colors, porcelain, obsidian (more or less black), bay, which is a pale blue and the gorgeous new mint. Mint is a pale-as-pale-can-be pastel shade, which catches the light pleasingly.

The smaller and more affordable Pixel 8 comes in slightly different shades, obsidian again, hazel, rose and the spiffy new mint. Again, all are on special and better-priced than in the February sale, when there was a $150 price drop. Now, there’s $200 off, dropping the price from $699 to $499, which is a fine price for this phone.

While it lacks the third camera of the Pro, the Pixel 8 is a highly capable device, with the same Tensor G3 processor as its pricier sibling in a more compact form factor, which may suit smaller hands. It’s lighter, too, and has almost as long battery life. Both phones have displays with 120Hz refresh rate, for a smooth, stutter-free look whether you’re watching video or scrolling lists.

And then there’s the Pixel Fold, which has a huge price cut right now: $500. That’s a full $100 more than the previous discount, and sees the price drop from $1,799 to $1,299.

Folding phones aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the Pixel is a handsome and effective model, with a slightly wider folded design which gives a more satisfying shape when unfolded.

All three of these phones are now keenly priced, and the Pixel 8 is an especially good bargain. What’s also cool is that the excellent mint color option that has only just launched is part of the deal. It’s also good that this offer is coming about half way through the Pixel year—Pixel 9 is expected in the fall.

And it follows a decent price cut to the Pixel 7 Pro, on Amazon a week ago which dropped the $899 original price considerably, and it’s now still available there for $519.99.
