Samsung might be working on a pricier Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra

There have been some speculations about Samsung possibly wanting to release a 2nd Galaxy Z Fold 6 model alongside the upgraded standard version later this year. Rumors had it that this variant could be cheaper than the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6, but a new theory is emerging. It might be the other way around.

According to this new theory, Samsung’s second Galaxy Z Fold 6 variant might not be cheaper but more expensive. Essentially, the lineup for 2024 could consist of a standard variant and a new Ultra Fold model.

Previously, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 was linked with the “Q6” codename, whereas the mysterious “Q6A” was associated with a cheaper Fold version. Now, according to WinFuture, this Q6A device might be the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra rather than a cheap FE or Lite version.

How could the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra improve the premium formula?

It’s easier to speculate what features Samsung could cut to create a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold 6. Things like S Pen support and the Under Panel Camera are prime contenders.

However, as of this writing, it’s harder to tell what the alleged Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra beast could offer extra and how it might outperform and outshine the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Nothing is confirmed so far, but in theory, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra could have bigger displays and batteries, more memory, and possibly even a dedicated S Pen holster rather than keeping the accessory bound to an S Pen case.

There have also been rumors that Samsung might be working on a rollable foldable phone for 2024, but they’re vague. And so far, there’s nothing to connect this alleged Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra with the rollable form factor.

In any case, the takeaway here is that Samsung might be going the opposite route from what everyone naturally expects. Fans have been waiting for cheaper book-like foldable phones for a while now, but the Korean tech giant might be going the opposite way, for better or worse, and release an even pricier Galaxy Z Fold Ultra variant this year.
