Sycamore High School grad going to the Olympics


A Sycamore High School graduate made the US Olympic swimming team Sunday night.Carson Foster, 22, placed first in the 400-meter individual medley, beating out seven other competitors.Foster is currently a student and swimmer at the University of Texas. Prior to that, he was a member of the local Mason Manta Rays swim team.He will now have a chance to compete in the 400-meter individual medley next month in Paris. Foster will also have the chance to compete in more events as the Team USA Olympic trials progress this week.Foster’s older brother, Jake Foster, another University of Texas student, will also be competing in the Olympic swimming trials this week.The race took place inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Ordinarily, the stadium is the home of the Indianapolis Colts NFL football team. Foster is heading to the Olympics three years after he placed third at the 2021 Olympic Trials.WLWT will have live coverage of the remaining swimming trials with Sheree Paolello, Steven Albritton, and Charlie Clifford from Lucas Oil Stadium every day this week.The Olympics will also be broadcasting live exclusively on WLWT every day between July 26 and August 11 in conjunction with other NBC-affiliated channels.
