Exosuit Fixes, Planetary Hazard Nerfs And More

Helldivers 2 has just rolled out its 1.000.103 patch (man those are a lot of numbers) which has a number of things that should affect gameplay for almost all players, particularly those that are tired of getting wrecked by weather they cannot shoot back against.

The main focus of the patch is some important fixes to the mech exosuit, and a bunch of hazard nerfs. Here’s what we know from the patch notes:

  • EXOSUIT – The EXO-45 Patriot exosuit no longer will blow up when you fire a missile while turning. You will also still be able to melee while the mech is damaged. (There is a current bug where mechs are being delivered damaged, but that is not fixed yet)
  • HAZARDS – Overall, Hazards will spawn less frequently during missions. In particular, meteors have gotten reduced explosion radius, reduced damage, reduced velocity and higher visibility. Volcanic activity has a reduced explosion radius and rock velocity. Lightning on Fenrir III is now less bright to improve visibility during meteor showers.

Other fixes? In addition to reduced spawn rates of patrols on players, there are new crash fixes for some specific instances:

  • When ALT+Tabbing in fullscreen mode
  • After changing voice over language
  • PS5 boot issue
  • Using a stim inside of an Exosuit while wielding a grenade
  • When joining an ongoing mission
  • When idling on the title screen

Certainly not everything is fixed. There’s a lengthy known issues section that includes a lot of issues with cross-play and the friends list. Also that weird bug where Planet liberation reaches 100% at the end of every defense mission. And one thing that just happened to me, where drowning in water with a vitality booster breaks your character.

Now, there may be some…unlisted changes in this patch. When patches are introduced, that’s a good moment for Arrowhead to sneak in stuff that may not have been there before. Last time around that brought things like flying Terminids and blue beams in the sky. This week? Nothing weird has happened yet, but after today, that may no longer be the case, so be sure to keep an eye out for anything strange out there in the wild.

This week it appears as if the playerbase is going to fail a major order where they were tasked with taking over two tough planets in under three days. With more time it may have been done, but on that timeline? Right now it’s looking extremely unlikely, and this patch may be adding in whatever happens after that…
